Their shoot took place walking along the Thames to Canary Wharf where Jim works. Tonight was Jim’s 60th birthday party on board a boat (fitting, given the weather) at the wharf with a piratical theme. Family and friends from Toronto, Ireland and all over the UK gathered in the most fabulous costumes (Jan and Jim plundered the National Theatre’s wardrobe department for their outfits). Jan and Christene arranged a belly dancer, actors doing piratical sword-fighting and fireworks as surprises. The rain held off long enough for the sword fight to take place safely, although some swabbing of the decks was needed to make sure no-one slipped.
