South Bank Centre wedding | Helen & Mattie | A single

I’m not going to say much because I’m so tired I’m almost dribbling … except that here is one from Helen and Mattie’s wedding a few hours ago. It features the South Bank Centre’s distinctive 1951 net and ball carpet designed by Peter Moro and Leslie Martin, which Helen and Mattie very much like.

Elizabeth and Patrick married today at the Haymarket Hotel, just off Trafalgar Square – and here’s a single from the day, taken in the hotel’s basement bar next to the pool and it’s amazing light sculpture, which is throwing the pink light into this picture. I’ll put up a full blog post from the day later in the week.

Great Fosters wedding | children as guests

At Emily and Marz’s wedding on Saturday, there were so many children being utterly themselves that I wanted to give them their own post. All were charming, busy making new friends and exploring. It can also be fun working with them, aside from the reportage photographs. One of the little girls was eating a packet of raisins when we wanted to do a group photograph with her in it. I offered to put the raisins on my head while I took the photograph so she could keep an eye on them – something she did with a rather suspicious look. By the time we came to take another group photograph with her in it, the raisins had gone, but the packet still went on my head. After it ‘fell off’ to get her (& the adults) to laugh, she raced over and insisted “again, again”. And yes, we did.

Great Fosters wedding | Emily & Marz

There are so many lovely photographs from Emily and Marz’s wedding on Saturday, most are going to go on this blog post, with a separate one for children at their day. We started the day setting the scene – Great Fosters‘ gardens are stunning and the lavender was out in full force, full of bees.

Emily’s mother was keeping an eye on things – like Emily’s dress that Emily and Marz had chosen together.

Emily’s colourful and classic bouquet was from Wimbledon florist Flowers by Eve.

Downstairs, Marz’s father Adil was welcoming everyone.

He and Emily’s father David were in position early for the ceremony, in Great Fosters Orangery.

Before David stepped back down the aisle to meet Emily and her bridesmaids.

Marz was one smiley groom.

We had about 30-40 minutes in the gardens for wedding portraits with Emily and Marz.

Now, the croquet: we found it set up and I showed Emily and Marz how to hit the ball (beyond that – rules and things – I have no idea). Emily was brilliant, giving a ladylike and heartfelt thud of the ball through the appropriate hoop followed by oodles of giggling while Marz stood about looking appropriately swashbuckling.

Next, it is Marz’s turn. Here it goes with a manly thwack …

… right towards our photographer’s nose! Ooops!

I was perfectly okay and managed to block the ball from my nose and the camera with an arm … but won’t be putting myself in that position again for a while!

On our way back from the portraits, it seems we were on a parallel journey with a guest.

With the receiving line about to start, it was time for photographs of the cake and Tithe Barn set up for dinner.

We had the prettiest sky and clouds I’ve seen in a long time today for Emily & Marz’s wedding at Great Fosters in Surrey. Both looked fabulous and their families were so very warm. Here is one photograph from their day – before their ceremony – because, quite frankly, all the ones of people were too difficult to choose from. Emily’s shoes are seen with one of the venue’s famous chimneys.

Rendah & Paul | Farm Street Church & Altitude 360

Rendah and Paul’s guests started their day at the Punch Bowl in Mayfair’s Farm Street, then moved down a few doors to the cool of Farm Street Church. Rendah arrived slightly early in a white taxi with her dad, wearing a Temperley dress and Jimmy Choo silver snakeskin slingbacks. After the ceremony and some family group photographs, Rendah, Paul and I took a black cab to Tate Britain to have some photographs on its steps in the gorgeous sunshine, before going to Altitude 360 in the Millbank Tower. Altitude is a stunning white and light space that was such a pleasure to work in. Rendah had set up a sweets table, which some of their young guests immediately took to … it was also a success with many of the older guests!

Rendah gave a speech alongside her dad, best men and new husband. One of my favourite photographs from the day was of her speech when she is looking at Paul, talking about her father being such an inspirational force in her life and just the three of them are in the image.

London Embankment wedding | Ruth and Bruce | A single

Today I photographed the sweetest couple – Ruth and Bruce – who married in Holy Trinity Brompton in South Kensington and had their reception on the RS Hispaniola near London’s Embankment. We did their couple wedding portraits in the late afternoon sun and this bridge was definitely a place we were going to use after they loved their engagement portraits taken there so much. This is one from today … more to follow in the coming 10 days.

The Dorchester | Wedding | Nicoletta & Steve

Nicoletta and Steve’s photographs from their wedding at The Dorchester have now been edited and I’m so excited about them. In Nicoletta and Steve’s working lives with a design company, they’re used to briefing photographers and sent me references of the kinds of photographs they most liked as well as explaining which of my work they felt would capture their day best. It meant I was able to best tailor their photography. Here is their day, with their baby daughter Ava.

London Russian wedding | Maria & Anton

Catching up on posts from last month – and here is Maria and Anton’s wedding with their son Leo, who I had photographed about a year ago as a ‘bump’ and then as a newborn. Maria and Anton’s wedding was at Westminster Register Office at the Old Marylebone Town Hall and Leo chose this week to start walking.

After the ceremony itself, the registrars suggested that Anton bring his bride over to the table where they would sign the register – a suggestion he took literally.

Maria, Anton and their guests went a few minutes down the road to Orrery, also in Marylebone for lunch and we took some time out for portraits.

Maria and Anton’s friends had baked a beautiful loaf for them to have with salt and vodka to start their married life.
