Islington Register Office + St Pancras wedding | Tanya + Zhewei

I often receive inquiries about small or intimate weddings and love photographing them. Tanya and Zhewei had their wedding at Islington Register Office before hopping into a limousine that took us to St Pancras for a family lunch. They had cleverly planned going to Paris on the Eurostar, so had only to cross a platform to be on their way.

While Zhewei waited in the council chamber, Tanya saw the registrars before arriving on her mother’s arm. It seemed that Zhewei and his father like to pace the floor while his mother appears a little calmer.

Zhewei’s talented brother played the entire Mendelssohn’s Wedding March while the signing of the register took place, which is quite a bit longer than the excerpt I’ve heard previously. He also played the more whimsical waltz from Amelie.

Here is one proud mother.

Tanya and Zhewei had asked for portraits that showed off the architecture of Islington Town Hall. It has some stunning original features and its steps are the centrepiece of the building.

Do we need any more reasons to celebrate?

Westminster Register Office | Jackie + Khalid | wedding

Jackie and Khalid’s wedding at Westminster Register Office’s Yellow Room was very much an intimate family occasion.

If you were looking for a second witness, that was me – so a little tricky to photograph. After photos on the Old Marylebone Town Hall steps, we went to the Ritz. Some of us were more interested in the journey than others.

Jackie and Khalid had booked afternoon tea at the Ritz. Although we weren’t able to take any photos where this was taking place, we did some more family portraits on the stairs before leaving them to enjoy their afternoon.

I was at Westminster Register Office and the Ritz on Wednesday for the wedding of Jackie and Khalid – and one of their witnesses. This one from their day was taken with their daughter Milly.

Haymarket Hotel wedding | Elizabeth & Patrick

I love the boutique style of the Haymarket Hotel, so it was especially lovely to work there again for Elizabeth and Patrick’s wedding last week. They are so very sweet together and one of the registrars said he was the smiliest groom she had seen in 26 years, so a delightful wedding to photograph indeed.

We started with some portraits of the smiley Patrick in the Shooting Gallery, where the ceremony was held.

Double-checking a few last details.Elizabeth arrives with her father. They’re both very smiley, aren’t they!After the ceremony, we went walkabout with our smiley couple, best man and bridesmaid.Some portraits by the National Gallery.And a number with Big Ben and Trafalgar Square in the background.Wanting to make the most of the National Gallery’s building work hoarding.In the left hand photograph, the lovely lady you see chatting to the best man and bridesmaid was visiting from Toronto and very kindly moved so Elizabeth and Patrick could have their photographs with Big Ben. And then back to the Haymarket for a few more portraits.

The hotel has some chic oversized lamps and a light sculpture over its pool that changes colour.

And before I left Elizabeth, Patrick and their guests to enjoy their wedding breakfast, captured some details of their private dining room.

Rendah & Paul | Farm Street Church & Altitude 360

Rendah and Paul’s guests started their day at the Punch Bowl in Mayfair’s Farm Street, then moved down a few doors to the cool of Farm Street Church. Rendah arrived slightly early in a white taxi with her dad, wearing a Temperley dress and Jimmy Choo silver snakeskin slingbacks. After the ceremony and some family group photographs, Rendah, Paul and I took a black cab to Tate Britain to have some photographs on its steps in the gorgeous sunshine, before going to Altitude 360 in the Millbank Tower. Altitude is a stunning white and light space that was such a pleasure to work in. Rendah had set up a sweets table, which some of their young guests immediately took to … it was also a success with many of the older guests!

Rendah gave a speech alongside her dad, best men and new husband. One of my favourite photographs from the day was of her speech when she is looking at Paul, talking about her father being such an inspirational force in her life and just the three of them are in the image.

Nicoletta and Steve’s photographs from their wedding at The Dorchester have now been edited and I’m so excited about them. In Nicoletta and Steve’s working lives with a design company, they’re used to briefing photographers and sent me references of the kinds of photographs they most liked as well as explaining which of my work they felt would capture their day best. It meant I was able to best tailor their photography. Here is their day, with their baby daughter Ava.

London Russian wedding | Maria & Anton

Catching up on posts from last month – and here is Maria and Anton’s wedding with their son Leo, who I had photographed about a year ago as a ‘bump’ and then as a newborn. Maria and Anton’s wedding was in the yellow room at Westminster Register Office at the Old Marylebone Town Hall and Leo chose this week to start walking.

After the ceremony itself, the registrars suggested that Anton bring his bride over to the table where they would sign the register – a suggestion he took literally.

Maria, Anton and their guests went a few minutes down the road to Orrery, also in Marylebone for lunch and we took some time out for portraits.

Maria and Anton’s friends had baked a beautiful loaf for them to have with salt and vodka to start their married life.

Kate and Paul married yesterday at the Haymarket Hotel, just off Trafalgar Square, in a stylish family day involving their guests, stunning food and lots of balloon animals. Kate’s dress matched the soles of her shoes … but you’ll have to wait a week or two to see how stunning she looked in it.
